the Sovereign Order in 1969 as Knight of Honour and Devotion and in 1973 entered the class of
Knights of Obedience.

In October 1987 the Sovereign Council gave him the mandate for organising the Order's "Future
Strategies " programme.
Over the last decade, this programme has fostered the expansion of the
Order's structures, concluding with the reform proposed for the Constitutional Charter and Code, approved by the Extraordinary Chapter General of 1997.

From 1988, he has been Superintendent of the Order's Magistral Post Office and Mint and Keeper of the Magistral Residences, and from
1989 has held the high office of Receiver of the Common Treasure.
In 1989 he was appointed Minister Plenipotentiary and in 1991 Extraordinary Magistral Commissioner
for stipulating
agreements with the Government of Malta for the Order's exclusive use of the Sant'Angelo Fort.
In February 1997 he was nominated plenipotentiary for intergovernmental negotiations with the
Republic of Malta.
From 1996 he has been Mission Head and Permanent Observer of the Sovereign
Order to the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York. In the context of the Order's
bodies operating in Italy, he is President of its Pergami-Belluzzi-Baldi, Matilde Maresca and
Macchi di Cellere Foundations and Grand Priory Delegate of Messina since 1974. He was Magistral
Commissioner for the Association of Italian Knights in 1986, and the Order's Attorney General and
Special Attorney in 1980, 1981 and 1982.
