Hydrotherapy is extremely important for the somatesthesitic (consciousness of the body) and proprioceptive (stimuli within the tissues of the body) input, and at the same time encourages the reacquisition of the body schema and conception. Moreover, since the body has less gravity in water, this reduces the hypertonia and makes it easier to move the patients' limbs.
